This series aims to expose the relationship between humans and material, and was developed in collaboration with Antonia Purdie. It uses dance and performance layered with home videos to examine how different materials can hold a historical narrative - Hessian being one that holds many. This was primarily focused on the relationship between hessian jute and the sugar slave trade, closely linked to personal heritage explorations on Mauritius and the indentured labourers on sugar and rum plantations.
